Terms of Service

Last updated: July 30, 2026

These Terms govern your use of the Dexter Details app and website (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. What Dexter is

Dexter helps you build and keep a documented record of your home — appliances, systems, maintenance, documents, and related information — and offers features such as AI schedules and the "Ask Dexter" assistant, provider search, aerial measurements, Reconsideration-of-Value (ROV) letters, and optional ownership verification.

2. Your account

You must provide accurate information and keep your login secure. You're responsible for activity under your account. You may delete your account at any time (see Section 8).

3. Acceptable use

Don't misuse the Service: no unlawful content, no infringing others' rights, no attempts to breach security, and no uploading data you don't have the right to store. You retain ownership of the content you add; you grant us the limited rights needed to host and display it back to you and anyone you share it with.

4. Payments & subscriptions

Paid plans and one-time purchases (e.g., aerial pulls, ownership verification) are billed through Stripe. Subscriptions renew until canceled; you can change or cancel your plan in the app. One-time purchases are consumed when used. Prices and included quotas are shown in the app.

5. No guaranteed outcomes

Dexter helps you make your case with documented evidence — it does not guarantee any result. We do not appraise property, and we do not promise a particular appraisal value, sale price, tax outcome, appeal decision, or insurance result. AI-generated content (schedules, insights, ROV letters, assistant replies) may contain errors; review it before relying on it. Dexter is not legal, financial, tax, or professional advice.

6. Third-party services

Some features rely on third parties (Stripe, Anthropic, Google, Bayou, Equifax, Clerk, AWS). Your use of those features is also subject to those providers' terms, and their availability is outside our control.

7. Disclaimers & limitation of liability

The Service is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Dexter is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

8. Termination & account deletion

You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from the app (menu → Delete Account) or by emailing support@dexterdetails.com. Deletion is immediate and permanent. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

9. Changes

We may update these Terms; continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms. We'll revise the date above.
